TO THE FLORIDA BAR

Florida holds their applicants to the highest standards or eithics and professional conduct. These standards for character and fitness of are constantly being reviewed by the Supreme Court panel.

The court said the quality of The Florida Bar is dependent upon a continuing analysis and evaluation of the standards of character and fitness required as a condition for Bar admission and over the past two years the Bar and the FBBE have been collecting information on any relationship between character and fitness issues disclosed during the admission process and discipline or grievance experiences.

The four areas most frequently encountered by the board in evaluating character and fitness:

1. Lack of candor
2. Criminal records
3. Financial irresponsibility
4. Untreated substance abuse and mental illness
